You need a fraction between ⅓ and ⅔.

but if you add one to the numerator , you get ⅔ . So we can't do that.

However, notice that ⅓ = 2/6 and ⅔ = 4/6

So a fraction between them is 3/6
And 3/6 = ½

Alternatively, ⅓ = 3/9 and 2/3 = 6/9

So some fractions that are between them are 4/9 and 5/9. These are also acceptable answers.

More examples :

⅓ = 4/12 and 2/3 = 8/12

5/12, 6/12( = ½) , 7/12 are between them and are also acceptable answers.

There are many more numbers between 1/3 and 2/3.

If you have learnt decimals, decimals help also.

2/5, 3/5, 8/11 etc are possible answers.

The easiest one is just to take the average of 1/3 and 2/3 which is 1/2.
