Your method will still be correct whether cuboid or cube. Because full volume of the tank is calculated by multiplying length x width (or breadth) x height. So even if the tank was cuboid shape instead, you will get the correct answer.

1/7 the height means the volume of water will be 1/7 of the full volume of the tank. It's just whether it's done in two steps like you did or in one step like the working other tutor showed.
