G“Inversely proportional to 1/(x + 4)” is the same as “directly proportional to (x + 4)”. Be careful with the wording here.

From there, you will create the equation y = k (x + 4) for some unknown k to be found. We then use the condition x = 1, y = 10 to obtain k = 2. From there, we use the result y = 2 (x + 4) to solve for a and b.

When x = 2, y = a
a = 2 (2 + 4) = 12

When x = b, y = 5
5 = 2 (b + 4)
2.5 = b + 4
b = -1.5
