You can draw another line that is parallel to the two lines and hit the 75 degree point

Hi, my son is asking what rule is being used here. He says he needs to state the rule used. Are you able to assist? Thanks

Following the other tutor’s workings, you will need the following line of reasonings:

1. Sum of angles in a triangle is 180 degrees
2. Sum of angles on one side of a straight line is 180 degrees
3. Corresponding angles are equal
4. Interior angles of parallel lines add to 180 degrees

The part that the other tutor wrote 159 degrees twice is called corresponding angles. There is also alternate angles which is not the same, but related.
