(a) Height of cylinder is 14 cm
Radius of cylinder (also hemisphere) is 6 cm

Volume of cylinder
= “#r2h”
= # (6)^2 (14)
= 504# cm3

Volume of hemisphere
= 0.5 (4/3) #r3
= (2/3) # (6)^3
= 144# cm3

So total volume is 504# + 144# = 648# cm3 (use # = 3.142 as per question)

(b) Three surfaces to consider.

1. Curved surface of hemisphere
2. Curved surface of cylinder
3. That one circle at the bottom

CSA of hemisphere
= 1/2 (4) # r2
= 2 # (6)^2
= 72# cm2

CSA of cylinder
= 2#rh
= 2# (6) (14)
= 168# cm2

Circle at bottom
= #r2
= # (6)^2
= 36# cm2

Total surface area
= 72# + 168# + 36#
= 276# cm2

(c) Cone with volume 188.52 cm3 is removed from the cylinder

Radius is 6 cm

1/3 # r2h = 188.52
1/3 # (6)^2 h = 188.52
12#h = 188.52
h = 188.52 / (12#)

Use your calculator value (I have no calculator with me for now)

(d)

Answer in (a) - 188.52

Then round off to nearest whole number from there
