We need to convert the above equation first, typically by long division or the technique which I used in the paper. Once you observe that 3x2 - 4x and 9x2 - 12x are related by a multiplier of 3, this problem becomes simplified.

There is no need to split the fraction into partial fraction (which would have not achieved any simpler fraction anyway).
