I need help in answering 3 iv
Once you obtain the sum and product of the new roots, we obtain the quadratic equation using the formula
x2 - (Sum of roots)x + (Product of roots) = 0.
So for example, if the sum of roots is found to be 10 and the product of roots is found to be 24, then the equation is
x2 - 10x + 24 = 0
Similarly, if the sum of roots is found to be -1 and the product of roots is found to be -2, then the equation is
x2 - (-1) x + (-2) = 0
x2 + x - 2 = 0
Where we can, we leave the coefficients of the quadratic equations fractionless.
