Since the boat can carry either 6 adults or 14 children, it means that “6 adults = 14 children”. By that I do not mean they are the same; rather, their total masses are the same or the total amount of seating space occupied is the same.

This means that “3 adults = 7 children”.

Since there are 3 adults and 2 children already present on the boat, and “3 adults = 7 children”, this means that essentially, there are “9 children” on board.

Since a boat can occupy 14 children, only 5 more children can enter the boat.
