The angle names are confusing. Note that the AOC can represent both the reflex angle (as per question) or the acute angle. You must know clearly which one you are referring to in the calculation.

A straight line is 180 degree and by extending line OC to DC, we can clearly see that angle AOB is an addition of 2 parts.
