Now F has 18 more sweets than Y.
Now F has 7 times as many sweets as Y.

This means that F has 7 units of sweets and Y has 1 unit of sweet. The difference is 6 units.

6 units —> 18
1 unit —> 3

Now Y has 3 sweets after giving away 35 sweets, so Y had 38 sweets at first. This means that F also had 38 sweets at first, so they had a total of 76 sweets at first.
