No. It should be 403 + 268 + 268
= 939

In the answer it is mentioned as 939 ,but I am not sure how it will be ? can anyone explain ?

Sachin : The who has more stamps received even more stamps, but the one who has less stamps now has even fewer stamps. now lost some stamps. So the difference increases by twice the number of stamps given.


For example,


You have $10, I have $5. Difference is $5

I decide to give you $3.

Now you have $13 while I have only $2 left. My amount decreases by $3, yours increases by $3. So the difference increases by $3 + $3 = $6

$5 + $3 + $3 = $11

Check : Difference now = $13 - $2 = $11

However if the opposite happens, the difference decreases by twice the amount of stamps given.


For example,


You have $10, I have $5. Difference is $5

You decide to give me $2

Now you have $8 left while I have $7. My amount increases by $2, yours decreases by $2. So the difference dcreases by $2 + $2 = $4

$5 - $2 - $2 = $1

Check : Difference now = $8 - $7 = $1
