After giving 5 cranes to each person, she has 4 cranes left.

Now, if she wants each of them to have 8 cranes, she must give them another 3 cranes each.

But the 4 cranes she has left are not enough to do so. She needs another 7 cranes.

Total cranes she needs so the friends can have another 3 each = 7 + 4 = 11

But 11 ÷ 3 = 3 R2

There is an error in your question as the number of cranes should be divisible by 3.

Recommend to change to 'she needs another 8 cranes'
