mary: 1 x 4 = 4u
5u = 4m
therefore 4u = 4 over 5 times 4 = 16 over 5
simplest form: 3 1/5 (3 and in fraction 1 over 5)

As the question states that the 2 of them shared a 4m rope, and Mary's rope is 4 times as long as Rena's rope. Mary= 4u, Rena=1u. The total units is 5 units, which means that 4m is 5 units.
