So 5/8 boys and 4/7 girls left = 152
Remaining = 3/8 boys and 3/7 girls = 96
1/8 boys and 1/7 girls = 96 ÷ 3 = 32
So 7/8 boys and 7/7 girls = 32 x 7 = 224
Compare this with the total boys and girls.
8/8 boys and 7/7 girls = 248
So difference = 248 - 224 = 24
Difference also = 1/8 boys
1/8 boys = 24
boys = 24 x 8 = 192
Girls = 248 - 192 = 56
Or
1/8 boys and 1/7 girls = 96 ÷ 3 = 32
So 8/8 boys and 8/7 girls = 32 x 8 = 256
Compare this with the total boys and girls.

So difference = 256 - 248 = 8
