I got the answer $65 by Guess and Check method. Is there any other method beside Guess and Check?
Almond : 3 for $5
Chocolate : 5 for $4
Since she bought the same number of almond and chocolate cookies, we make the number of cookies the same.
3 almond cookies x 5 = 15 almond cookies
5 chocolate cookies x 3 = 15 chocolate cookies
So cost of 15 almond cookies = $5 x 5 = $25
Cost of 15 chocolate cookies = $4 x 3 = $12
We group them together.
$25 + $12 = $37
Then, find out how many groups are there.
$185 ÷ $37 = 5
There are 5 such groups.
$25 - $12 = $13
In each group, the almond cookies cost $13 more than chocolate cookies.
Since there are 5 such groups
$13 x 5 = $65
She spent $65 more on the almond cookies than all the chocolate cookies .
