2h x 4km/h = 8km

In 2 hours, Abel already travelled 8km. So when Jack started cycling, Abel is 8km ahead of him.

9km/h - 4km/h = 5km/h

This means that every hour, Jack travels 5km more than Abel. He will be getting 5km closer to Abel every hour.

8km ÷ 5km/h = 1.6h

He will take 1.6h to catch up with Abel

1.6 h = 1 3/5 h = 1h 36 min
