Remainder of salary after giving his wife
= 1 - 1/6 = 5/6 of total
He spent 5/11 of the remainder. So 6/11of the remainder is what was not spent.
Amount not spent
= 5/6 x 6/11 = 5/11 of total salary.
Since he had 1/4 of his salary left,
5/11 of total - 1/4 of total
= 20/44 - 11/44
= 9/44 of total
So 9/44 of total is what he saved.
9/44 of total = $765
Total = $765 x 44/9 = $3740
