The 40% is not based on 200 coins.

The 200 coins is already given with 50x $1 coins (25%).

She is being asked to increase it to 40% of $1 coins on top of the 200 coins she already have.

The answer should be additional 50 coins to get to 40% of $1 coins. 40% of 250 is 100 $1 coins.

My daughter P6 think that’s the right answer is additional 50 coins. Is this correct?

To answer this question, first find out how many coins makes up 25% of 200 coins.
Next, find out what is 40% of 200 coins.
Lastly, deduct the number of coins Mei Ling already collected (which is the 25%) to get the number of $1 coins she needs to increase the percentage of coins to 40%.
