The pattern repeats every 4 numbers.

4,0,1,2 4,0,1,2 4,0,1,2....

626 ÷ 4 = 156 R 2

So we know we have 156 sets of 4 numbers , and 2 numbers as remainder.

156 x 4 = 624
Every 4th number is a 2. Since 624 is a multiple of 4, the 624th number is 2.

So the 626th number must be 0

ii)

Realise that every 4 numbers add up to 7, as 4 + 0 + 1 + 2 = 7

We know that from i), 624 = 156 x 4.

So for the first 624 numbers, there are 156 sets of these 4 numbers.

So 156 x 7 = 1092

Now the 625th , 626th and 627th number are 4, 0 and 1 respectively.

So 1092 + 4 + 0 + 1 = 1097
