For this kind of differentiation you must do grouping. First question, treat numerator as one block and denominator as one block before using quotient rule.

v du/dx - u dv/dx whole thing divided by v2

Then the du/dx is the numerator with three terms, group the numerator into two terms (of which one of the terms is the product of two terms and then do product rule on it. Then within the product rule, still got this ‘product of two terms’, right? Then do one more product rule for it.

Denominator is not to be differentiated.

This kind of question are not tested in the O Levels. It's just a question for those who want to take up tougher questions.

Q16a done.

I am too lazy to simplify beyond what I wrote.

If I am willing and I can still remember, I will do Q16b. It's very similar to Q16a.
