2/15 of the figure is unshaded

2/15 = 16cm²

1/15 = 16cm² ÷ 2 = 8cm²

1 - 2/15 = 13/15

So shaded area = 13 x 8 cm² = 104cm²

Notice that for both triangles, the common area between them is the unshaded part. Since both triangles are identical, they have identical areas.

This tells you that their shaded areas are equal. Which means 104cm² = 2 area A

So area of A = 104 ÷ 2 = 52 cm²
