Remember that:
Sin x = opp/hyp
Cos x = adj/hyp
Tan x = opp/adj

If:
Sin x = 3/5

You can work out Cos x and Tan x based on Pythagoras Theorem, sketching out a right angle triangle.

But this requires us to know the quadrant position of the angles though.

This topic is hard

This is because the concepts can get mixed up easily, for example main angle and basic angle. It’s ridiculously difficult to explain the concepts on paper (unlike whiteboards in classrooms, in which I would be able to relate everything together).

Trigo order of flow is as follows.

1. Sin Cos Tan and Pythagoras
2. Complementary and Supplementary Angle Rules
3. Basic Angles
4. The Quadrants and ASTC
5. Application of Quadrants (like Q11)

Once you master this, you can then go on to more in depth trigo.

6. Secant, Cosecant and Cotangent
7. Basic Trigo Equation Solving involving Quadrants
8. Trigo Graphs
9. Trigo Identities
10. More Advanced Equation Solving (involving identities as well)
11. Double Angle Formula and Addition Angle Formula
12. R Formula
13. Further Equation Solving

This concept is very difficult to explain on paper, so I may not be able to do a good job of explaining this time.

We use Pythagoras theorem to obtain 12. Some common numbers to know in Pythagoras theorem are 3 4 5, 6 8 10, 5 12 13, 9 12 15, 8 15 17 etc. Now, the horizontal line segment 12 is to the right of the y-axis, hence positive 12.
