Not sure about the model, but I think the idea is this:

You know she mixed a total of 0.9 litres of drink (ie 9/10 litres).

You know each cup can hold 1/6 litres.

So I convert into equivalent fractions to make it easier to understand (since the numbers are weird). The common denominator is 30.

So then 1 cup is 5/30 litres, and the total is 27/30 litres. So I can get 5 cups, with 2/30 litres left over.
