Women are 25% of the whole population.

Since men are 3/5 of the whole population, we know that
Men are 3/5 * 25% = 15% of the whole population.

So the percentage of children population is 100% - 25% - 15% = 60%
There were 56 more children than women. Then we know children are 25% of the whole population and another 56 more.

So 56 is 60% - 25% = 35%
Therefore total number is
56 ÷ 35 * 100 = 160

Note that women make up 25% of the total.

25% of total --> 5 units
100% of total --> 4 x 5 units = 20 units

Children --> 5 units + 56

Total number of people --> 20 units --> 3 units of men, 5 units women, 5 units children + 56 children

56 children --> 20 - 3 - 5 - 5 --> 7 units

7 units --> 56
1 unit --> 8
20 units --> 8 x 20 = 160
