To be fair, 4 marks for the entire question is WAY too little. I had expected 6 marks minimum (1 mark for forming first equation, 1 mark for forming second equation, 2 marks for simul, 2 marks for factorising fully).

If A is a factor of B, then the factors of A (ie the components of A) are also factors of B.

Remainder theorem applies afterwards to yield two simul.

Solve for a and b.

Then factorise by comparing coefficients or Long division.
