Forgotten how to draw my hyperbolas and ellipses already. I am not of much help.

The x2 + 4x - 1, we express it in completed square form as (x + 2)^2 - 5 before bringing over the 5 to the other side.

First equation is (x + 2)^2 + 0.5 (y - 1)^2 = 5 which is an ellipse.

Second equation is (x + 2)^2 - (y - 1)^2 = 5 which is a hyperbola.
