One Answer Below
Anyone can contribute an answer, even non-tutors.
How to do?
1. The square of the sum
2. The sum of the squares
If a and b are the numbers, then
1. The square of the sum is (a + b)^2 (sum first, then square)
2. The sum of the squares is a^2 and b^2 (square first, then sum)
Of course, (a + b)^2 is not equal to a^2 + b^2.
