Firstly the question is already wrong. 43b) should be asking how much money Ben had after 4 years(based on ans key). The 500 is actually from the interest. The answer key is also wrong.
5% x 2500 x 4 =? Work that out and you will understand

Possibly a case of mistyping or a ‘copy-and-paste’ error from the publisher. There do exist mistakes in answer sheets from time to time.

a) tom is having compound interest so based on the formulae...

b)ben::: calculate the amount he invested and then.. What he exchange into Usd now..
This amount of Usd is to be converted back to Sgd and the total is what he has.(p.s. typo error on the paper..they should write down Been instead of Harry)

c)use formulae in a) to solve part c)
