After the decrease, there are 9/10 of the male and 3/4 of the female members remaining
Since there are as many male as female members now, we make the numerator the same so the number of units are the same.
Female : 3/4 = 9/12
so 9/12 female = 9/10 male
This also tells you that there were 12 units of female and 10 units of male members at first.
Total = 12 + 10 = 22 units
22 units = 220 members
1 unit = 220 ÷ 22 = 10 members
Number of male members this year
= 9 units
= 9 x 10
= 90
Number of members this year
= 90 + 90 (since male and female are the same number this year)
= 180
