Here's the fourth question. I spent a fair bit of time trying to maneuver the equations around.

Part (a) has nothing to do with alpha and beta. It's trying to manipulate the equations until the equation of interest is obtained. Out of the four methods I have listed, my first method is actually the proper way to solve these type of questions (but these questions are just for practice and unlikely to appear in the exams).
