Total amount is unchanged.

Let Janet be 5 units, Ken be 1 unit.

Total = 6 units

After giving $2450 to Ken,

Ken = 3 units, Janet = 1 unit.

Total = 4 units

Since total amount is unchanged,
make the units the same.

Janet 5 units, Ken 1 unit, Total 6 units
→ ×2 → Janet 10 units, Ken 2 units, Total 12 units

Janet 1 unit, Ken 3 unit, Total 4 units
→ ×3 → Janet 3 units, Ken 9 units, Total 12 units

From above we can see that Janet gave Ken 7 units.

7 units = $2450
1 unit = $2450 ÷ 7 = $350

Amount Ken had at first = 2 units
= $350 x 2 = $700
