Area of rectangle to new figure
= 11 : 7
= 22 : 14
So we can let area of rectangle be 22 units and area of new figure = 14 units
Notice that Area of △ PQR
= ½ area of rectangle
= ½ x 22 units
= 11 units
Unshaded area PS
= area of figure - area of △ PQR
= 14 units - 11 units
= 3 units
Notice that △ PSR
= ½ of rectangle
= unshaded area PS + shaded part
= 11 units
So, shaded part = 11 units - 3 units
= 8 units
8 units = 68 cm²
1 unit = 68 cm² ÷ 8
= 8.5 cm²
Area of rectangle
= 22 units
= 8.5 cm² x 22
= 187 cm²
= 11 : 7
= 22 : 14
So we can let area of rectangle be 22 units and area of new figure = 14 units

= ½ x 22 units
