Hi Cindy, x10 so that you can get the answer easily. If not, 0.4 x 2 = 0.8 unit, will make your calculation more troublesome.

Hi Cindy, area of unshaded is 2 + 12 +10 = 24.
8 : 24 simplify to 1 : 3 ( ans ).
