Area of shaded area = Area of square - Areas of white quadrants

The 4 white quadrants can be made into a circle with diameter 14cm.

By using the formula of the area of a circle = pi * radius * radius:

14cm * 14cm - 22/7 * 7cm * 7cm = 196cm^2 - 154cm^2 = 42cm^2.

The area of the shaded area is 42cm^2.
