Let S represent Nina's salary.

She spent $2800 on a TV.

She also spent 6/10 * (S - $2800) on a sofa.

Then, she had 3/10 S left.

S - $2800 - 6/10 * (S - $2800) = 3/10 S

First, we expand out:

S - $2800 - 6/10 S + $1680 = 3/10 S

Shift the variables to one side:

7/10 S = $1120

Lastly, we multiply 10/7 on both sides:

S = $1600
