Let X be the number of passengers in the train at first.

0.8X were adults, and the remaining 0.2X were children.

After 152 passengers boarded the train, there were 1.1 * 0.8X = 0.88X adults and 2.5 * 0.2X = 0.5X children.

Altogether, there are now 0.88X + 0.5X = 1.38X passengers.

The increase of 0.38X passengers must be from the 152 passengers.

0.38X = 152

X = 400

Hence, the number of passengers on the train now is 1.38X = 552.
