To eliminate all the denominators, we can multiply the entire equation by the LCM of all the denominators (LCM in algebra form though). In (j), there is no common factor between x and x - 3, so the LCM is x (x - 3), which we multiply throughout. It's slightly better than writing the messy large fractions when you make the denominators the same.
