Let J represent Jamal's money at first.
Let K represent Kamil's money at first.

After Jamal spent 4/5 of his money and Kamil spent 3/4 of his money, Jamal had $30 more than Kamil.

Therefore, 1/5 J = 1/4 K + $30

Multiply by 5 on both sides:

J = 5/4 K + $150

We also know that J + K = $393.

Substitute:

9/4 K + $150 = $393

9/4 K = $243

K = $108

Hence, Kamil had $108 at first.
