For these two questions, you can make use of algebraic identities to do the question faster. (I've written the relevant identities on top of each question)
Even if you're nor familiar with your identities,you can still expand out the expression using the butterfly/rainbow method for qn 11.
Qn 12, you have to use identity
Then what you need to do is to take our.common factors till you can get an expression with a value that is stated in the question (e.g. x-y).
Sub in the values accordingly and solve.
