684 - 300 = 384 coins

So 384 coins were taken out.

384 = ⅔ of coins in L and ⅔ of coins in M (these coins were taken out)

So total coins in L and M = 384 x 3/2

= 576 coins

(You can also see this as :
384 = 2u of L and 2u of M
So total coins in L and M = 3u of L + 3u of M = 384 ÷ 2 x 3 = 576)

So, number of coins in K
= 684 - 576
= 108

Since ratio of coins in K to L
= 1 : 3,

Number of coins in container L
= 108 x 3
= 324

Therefore, number of coins in M
= 576 - 324
= 252
