Girls = 40% = 4/10

So after the group of boys joined,

girls → 4 units, boys → 6 units
Total →10 units
Ratio of girls to boys = 4 : 6

Previously, ratio of girls to boys = 4 : 5

So since number of girls did not change,
Number of boys increased by 1 unit.

Percentage increase of boys = 1 unit / 5 units x 100%
= 1/5 x 100%
= 20%
