Since n is positive integer, 2n must be positive and even. (Anything x 2 is even)
So 2n - 1 must be odd
You'll have a (-1)^(2n -1) . Since 2n - 1 is odd, (-1)^(2n -1) = -1.
4b) try dividing by (x+1) first. You'll realise it's a factor.
After that, you either need to complete the square or use the quadratic formula to find the other two roots.

In your syllabus, you should be able to guess one value of x which is a solution to the equation.
(Sadly, not all cubic equations have integer/fractional roots).
