4a) remainder = f(-1)

Since n is positive integer, 2n must be positive and even. (Anything x 2 is even)

So 2n - 1 must be odd

You'll have a (-1)^(2n -1) . Since 2n - 1 is odd, (-1)^(2n -1) = -1.

4b) try dividing by (x+1) first. You'll realise it's a factor.

After that, you either need to complete the square or use the quadratic formula to find the other two roots.

For question 4b, you can use either comparison of terms, long division or some other suitable method to factorise the cubic expression.

In your syllabus, you should be able to guess one value of x which is a solution to the equation.

(Sadly, not all cubic equations have integer/fractional roots).
