PQ = PX + XQ = 21cm + 18cm = 39 cm

(Note that PX and XQ are radii of the respective circles)

Extend the line RQ by 3cm and join its end to P. Let this new point be A (or any alphabet you want). You get a rectangle PARS.

Triangle PAQ is right angled. So use Pythagoras Theorem to find PA , and trigo to find angle PQA. From this you can find angle PQR.

b) note that PA = SR. So you can find the area of the trapezium.

Knowing the angle properties of a trapezium, use angle PQA to find angle SQR.

Then, use arc of circle formula to find the areas of the sector of the respective circles.

Subtract accordingly to get your answer.
