Hi Ria, the precision of an instrument refers to the lowest number it can read, for a vernier caliper, the precision is 0.01cm.

As for readings, the zero error is positive, so you read it normally, look at which of the 2 lines allign. Then read off the vernier scale, in this case, it's 2. So the zero error is +0.02cm

To read the second image, the zero mark on the vernier scale is after the 10.0 mark on the main scale, but before the 10.1 mark, so you have 10.0cm so far. Then look at the vernier scale, like finding the zero error, see which two lines allign, in this case, it's 7. So it's 0.07cm more. So take 10.0 + 0.07, giving you 10.07 cm as the depth.

Dont forget, you have a POSITIVE zero error, so minus 0.02cm off from 10.07cm to get the actual reading.

As for your last question, yes, it's correct.

Mr Wong,
just as we say, a pair of scissors,
not a scissor.
It is a pair of vernier calipers,
not a vernier caliper.
Or u can say, the vernier calipers.
