Important that we must change inequality sign when multiplying or dividing both sides by a negative number; do not change the signs when adding or subtracting both sides by a negative number.

In a number line, an unshaded small circle means that the reference value is NOT included as part of the solution, while a shaded dot means that the reference value is included. For example, for the inequality x > 1, we should draw an unshaded circle on top of the number 1 before drawing an arrow from that circle to the right.
