Part b should be 18y + 4.

for (b) is in algebraic terms bc y could be anything, I tried subbing in any value and always ended up with the Amt in the qns. Hope this helps

Part a is correct.
Your part b answer is wrong.
It is 18y + 4
( u forgot that if each student gets $y, there's $4 left.)
