Hi. Thank you for your response but the final answer is actually different.

Answer is 64 for part a and 78 for part b

Figured out the solutions to the qn..I can see the confusion here..Most of us including me would have thought that the amount we bring for shopping is the total amount spent but that is not always the case..It's a natural assumption to think that way..In this qn,it confirms that the two still have some money left that's why the qn mention the money each have...Hope this clarifies the misinterpretation..:)
