Hi, initally when the resistance is 1000ohms, the voltage divider rule is 1000/(1000+500) x 30V which is 20V. when it falls below 100ohms, the voltage across is 100/(500+100) x 30V which is 5V. Therefore it falls from 20V to 5V.
