Hi can i know the part where i am pointing to is it wrong? My understanding is 1/3 should be pencil box and 2/3 should be left. Please advise

Yes the working is erroneous. It should be ⅓ for pencil box and ⅔ for money left.
And for part b), it should be like this :
$12 = 3 units
1 unit = $4
Sum of $ at first
= $4 x 12 = $48
And for part b), it should be like this :
$12 = 3 units
1 unit = $4
Sum of $ at first
= $4 x 12 = $48
