Since 1 pencil is equal to the cost of 3 erasers, we try to find out how many pencils only, she can buy with 2/3 of her money. Then from there, we work out how many pencils can be bought using 1/3 of her money.
The total number of pencils she bought would then be 6 pencils (bought oroginally) + how many pencils she can buy with 1/3.
